# Macula License / Upgrade

## Online License Upgrade

1. Start Macula Activation Wizard. \
   \
   Go  to **Start ▶ All Apps ▶ Macula ▶ Macula Activation Wizard**.\
   \
   Alternatively, use Windows Search to locate the Activation Wizard in the programs menu.

In Macula Enterprise edition, the application is named **Macula Activation Wizard**.

In Macula Professional edition, the application is named **Macula Registration and Activation Wizard**.

2. If the Macula Server has direct internet connection, select **Upgrade current license**. Then, click **OK**.

Note that all the following software processes (both applications and services) must be stopped in order for the license to be applied correctly.&#x20;

&#x20;          •  **Macula Server Watchdog**

&#x20;          •  **Macula Server** <br>

Click **Yes** to terminate the services and continute upgrade the license.

3. Your license information will be synchronized with the license activation server and a new license summary will be displayed.&#x20;

## Offline License Upgrade

1. Start Macula Activation Wizard. \
   \
   Go  to **Start ▶ All Apps ▶ Macula ▶ Macula Activation Wizard**.\
   \
   Alternatively, use Windows Search to locate the Activation Wizard in the programs menu.

2. If the Macula Server does not have direct internet connection, usually due to site's network security policy, choose the **Upgrade current license via license file**.&#x20;
3. On the target Macula Server, click **Generate...** button to generate the activation file. \
   &#x20;

4. You will be prompted to terminate the following service(s). Press **Yes** to terminate and continue.\
   &#x20;          •  **Macula Server Watchdog**
5. You will be prompted to save a file named ***system.bin*** (unless you rename it). Save the system.bin file to a removable storage (USB disk).&#x20;

6. Insert this system.bin file to a computer that has internet connection. Go to **Macula Software Activation Centre** (<http://app.gsfcorp.com/maculaofflineactivation.html>)

7. Insert the Macula **License Key** code. Then, press **Choose File** button to upload the **system.bin** file. Press **Get 'license.dat' file** button.
8. The Activation Centre will process your file and generate the license file instantaneously. You will be prompted to save a **license.dat** file. Save this license.dat file to a removable storage (USB disk).

This license.dat file is unique and only valid for the same machine from which the original system.bin file was originated.

9. Now, on the targeted Macula Server, click **Browse...** button to specify license file.&#x20;

10. Locate and select the **license.dat** file. Then, press **Open**.
11. The validated license.dat file will be loaded,&#x20;
12. Click **Activate** to apply the license file.
13. Your new license summary will be displayed.&#x20;
