# Themes

Macula Monitor colour scheme can be modified by changing the colours of individual elements and/or element groups: buttons, date/time pickers, overlay controls etc. This functionality is available through Macula Monitor main menu *Edit* -> *Theme*.

All elements whose colour can be changed are grouped logically within the list and shortcuts to the groups are listed on the left hand side.

**Colour palette** consists of three sections:

* available colours: hues used in default Macula Monitor looks
* standard colours: pure hues with names (e.g., white, gray, purple etc.)
* advanced settings: fully customized colour choice from RGBA (red, green, blue and alpha for transparency) colour picker

All colours except from standard ones are coded in 8-digit hexadecimal RGBA notation; colours from the standard palette can be also referred to using names, for example, black, white, red etc.

As you change the colours, they are **immediately** applied to the application theme. Once you have created a desired colour arrangement, you have the following options:

* save as: save the theme settings into a XAML file
* save: save latest theme modifications and exit
* cancel: discard the latest changes and exit
* load defaults: discard all changes and reset the colours to GSF provided
* Export: save the theme into a file and use it on another workstation
* Import: load a theme file from another workstation, or an earlier version of it

To **load** a XAML file formed on another workstation, use the *Import* button.

Alternatively: take the *Brushes.xaml* file generated previously and put in into the *AppData* directory

*C:\Users\\\<user>\AppData\Local\GSF\_Corporation\_Pte\_Ltd\Macula*

After putting the file there, restart the Macula Monitor for the changes to take effect.

You can also put the file into the product **installation directory** - in that case the colour scheme will **become default**. To revert to the original Macula theme, delete the *Brushes.xaml* file from the installation directory and restart the Macula Monitor again.
