# Save Layer

## Applicability

* ecaOS **5**

## Description

* Creates a complete backup of SYSTEM C: partition
* Save Layer will save current user's working layer
* This layer containts all current configurations, such as video management software, windows network settings, etc.

## Requirement

* USB Security Key or ECA Access Code

Duration required for completion of Save Layer is approximately 30 to 40 minutes. While Save Layre is in progress, the system will not be usable. This incur system downtime.&#x20;

## Procedure

1. Ensure you have the **USB Security Key** or **ECA Access Code** ready. Every ECA has its dedicated unique key and cannot be shared with other ECA. Refer to [Enrol Virtual Security Key for ECA Access Code](/eca/operation-guides-ecaos-6/enrol-virtual-security-key-for-eca-access-code.md)
2. Launch **System Manager** from Taskbar.

3. The prompt for ECA Access appears. You can either:
   1. Plug-in the Security Key into the Security Port located on the front panel of ECA. Or,
   2. Insert the 6-digits One-Time-Passcode (OTP) ECA Access Code

4. **System Manager** will appear. Click on **Layer Management**

5. Click **Save Deployment Layer** button. If the USB Security Key is plugged-in, you may remove it now.&#x20;

6. ECA will reboot into **Layer Manager**.

7. Save Deployment Layer will begin automatically after 10 seconds countdown.&#x20;

If you want to cancel Save Deployment Layer, you may click **Cancel** within this 10 seconds. Then, the system will reboot into ecaOS.

8. Save Deployment Layer progress is shown in percentage.&#x20;

8. ECA will automatically reboot into ecaOS after completion.
